Frequently Asked Questions

What is hypnosis?

Most people have experienced hypnosis without realizing it — that drifting, absorbed state when you’re waking up, daydreaming, or completely immersed in a movie or piece of music.

Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention and relaxation where the analytical mind quiets down and deeper layers of awareness become accessible. In this state, people are able to explore internal imagery, emotions, and meanings that are often difficult to reach through conversation alone.

In my work, hypnosis isn’t about control or “programming.” It’s a way of helping you access your own internal resources, insights, and direction — often allowing change to happen organically rather than through effort or willpower.

Is hypnosis safe? Can’t I get “stuck”?

Hypnosis is very safe. It’s a natural mental state similar to deep focus or meditation.

Even if a session were interrupted, you would simply return to normal awareness on your own — much like waking from a nap or daydream. There is no risk of being “stuck” in hypnosis.

Can I be hypnotized against my will?

No. Hypnosis is entirely voluntary.

Despite how movies portray it, hypnosis isn’t something done to you. It’s something you actively participate in. A hypnotist acts as a guide — helping you enter a focused state and explore it productively — but you remain aware and in control the entire time.

You cannot be hypnotized to do anything that goes against your values or intentions.

Can anyone be hypnotized?

Most people who can relax, focus, and imagine are able to experience hypnosis. In fact, people who are thoughtful, creative, or introspective often go quite deeply.

Like any skill, people vary in how easily they enter the state, but almost everyone can benefit from it.

Is hypnosis ever counter-indicated?

Hypnosis may not be appropriate for individuals with certain severe psychiatric conditions that require specialized medical care (such as active psychosis or schizophrenia). If there’s ever any uncertainty, we’ll discuss it openly during the consultation.

Will I remember everything that happens while I am in trance?

Sometimes yes, sometimes not completely — and either is fine.

Some people remain aware of everything that happens; others enter such a deep, absorbed state that parts of the session feel dreamlike or fade from conscious memory. Even when this happens, the experience is still integrated at a deeper level.

Memory is not a measure of effectiveness.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Most people describe hypnosis as deeply relaxing and inwardly focused — similar to meditation or vivid daydreaming. Some people feel very calm; others feel emotionally moved or unusually clear.

There’s no “right” way for it to feel.

How many sessions will it take to address my issue?

Some issues resolve in a single session, especially when the work involves clarity, emotional release, or identity shifts. More entrenched patterns may take several sessions.

During your consultation, we’ll talk honestly about what’s likely — there’s no pressure to commit to ongoing work if it isn’t needed.
