What a Session is Like

Before Meeting

We begin with a free 20-minute clarity call: https://tidycal.com/aguldbeck/clarity-call

This is a brief conversation to understand what’s prompting you to reach out, what kind of change you’re seeking, and whether this work is a good fit. It’s not a sales call — it’s a mutual check for alignment.

If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule a session and I’ll send you a short intake form to complete beforehand.

The Session

Sessions don’t run from a script. They run from you.

The first part is conversation. You tell me what brought you in — what’s stuck, what’s pulling, what you’re circling but haven’t quite named. I listen carefully. I’m tracking what you say, what’s underneath it, the images and words you reach for, the places your voice changes. This isn’t small talk; it’s the diagnostic part of the work.

Some of what I ask you may seem unrelated to the problem you want to solve. Honestly, I don’t plan any of this — I’m following my nose. Sometimes I’m surprised by where the conversation goes. Only later, sometimes mid-session, do I realize what my instincts were honing in on. By the end of the pre-talk I usually have a clear sense of what we’re actually working on — which is often not the thing you walked in thinking we’d work on.

Out of what I’ve heard, I build a healing story specific to you. Then we enter trance together.

You won’t be unconscious. Most people describe the experience as deeply present, inwardly focused, and surprisingly clear. Some people find it euphoric — that’s a beautiful thing when it happens, though I can’t promise it. You’re aware of where you are. You can speak, move, come out at any time. What’s different is the depth of attention — both yours and mine.

Some people don’t remember much about the session afterwards. That’s not a bad sign — usually it means we went deep enough to bypass your internal critic and gatekeeper, which is often where the real work gets done.

Inside the experience, I’m there with you. Slightly off to the side, but close enough to see what you’re seeing and feel what you’re feeling. I adjust the story as we go, in real time, based on what’s actually happening for you.

Going this deep requires trust. The clarity call exists partly so we can find out whether that trust is there. If it is, the work becomes possible. The story unlocks your own natural power; my job is to hold the thread while you do the work.

What This Work Is Like

  • Sessions are conversational, not scripted
  • The work is built around your inner world, your imagery, your symbols — not someone else’s templates
  • There’s a shamanic element to it, in the literal sense: storytelling, imagery, and trance used as healing technology
  • One session is often enough to shift something significant — particularly when the work touches identity, direction, or long-standing internal patterns
  • This isn’t ongoing therapy. If you need ongoing therapy, that’s a different kind of work and I can refer you

Many clients experience meaningful change after a single session — especially when the work touches identity, direction, or long-standing internal conflicts.

After the Session

Most people leave feeling calm, clear, and internally settled — often with new perspective or a felt sense that something important has shifted.

We’ll briefly discuss what came up and whether any next steps are needed. Some clients choose to continue; others find that one session is enough to unlock momentum.

If you’d like, I can provide an audio recording of the session so you can revisit the experience on your own.
